Beverley Hills Diner meeting: Tackling Town Challenges and Celebrating Local Business

Last Wednesday, members and guests of the Beverley Chamber of Trade (BCoT) gathered at the fantastic Beverley Hills Diner for our monthly meeting.

At BCoT, we know that getting people through the door is the first step to successful networking. By rotating our meeting venues each month, we not only give our members fresh, memorable experiences but also raise the profile of brilliant local establishments like the Beverley Hills Diner. It’s a strategy that encourages repeat attendance, sparks great conversations over excellent food, and builds stronger professional connections across our community.

Town Updates – The Parking Challenge

Our Chair, Shaun, opened the meeting by reflecting on a highly successful but demanding month for the town.

“Beverley has enjoyed an incredibly busy few weeks, with several fantastic events attracting huge crowds of locals and visitors,” Shaun noted. “However, this increased footfall has highlighted some pressing infrastructure concerns.”

The primary issue raised by local retailers and shoppers involves town parking. Visitors are finding it difficult to locate main car parks, with short-stay and long-stay zones poorly signposted. Compounding the issue is a weak mobile and Wi-Fi signal across key parking areas, making digital app payments unreliable and frustrating for drivers.

Our 5-Point Action Plan with Beverley Town Council

To ensure Beverley remains a welcoming and accessible destination, BCoT is collaborating directly with Beverley Town Council to champion the following initiatives:

  • Signage Audit: Conducting a comprehensive survey of directional parking signs to pinpoint exactly where clearer visual guidance is required.
  • Clearer Zoning: Ensuring visitors can easily differentiate between short- and long-stay spaces to reduce town-centre congestion and confusion.
  • Reliable Payment Systems: Advocating for straightforward, flexible payment methods—including cash, card, and contactless—so parking is hassle-free for everyone.
  • Signal Boost for Apps: Urging infrastructure providers to dramatically improve mobile connectivity so parking apps function smoothly without delays.
  • Boosting Local Trade: Prioritising accessible parking to encourage shoppers to stay longer, explore our independent shops, and return more often.

Networking and Festive Forecasts

Following a highly productive and healthy debate on town infrastructure, the evening transitioned into relaxed networking. Members enjoyed a delicious spread courtesy of the diner team, and Luke gave the room an exciting update on upcoming events at the Beverley Hills Diner—including a very early sneak peek at their Christmas entertainment plans!
