On Wednesday 29 July, BCoT held its Summer Meeting at Beverley and East Riding Golf Club.
Welcome and introductions
Members were welcomed by Chairman Shaun Dart, the organising committee, and the golf club’s new Catering Manager, Nadine Robinson. Shaun highlighted recent changes in and around Beverley, emphasising how fortunate members are to work in such a beautiful area and the importance of collaborating to build a stronger local business community.
Updates from Beverley and East Riding Golf Club
Shaun introduced Ben Gardiner, Marketing Director at the Golf Club. Ben shared several key points:
- The club has invested in two new greens.
- It is ranked 11th in the Top 100 UK Courses Under £40.
- The Junior Section is thriving.
- There is a special Ladies Membership offer: 50% off the first year’s membership and 25% off the second year.
Founded in 1889, Beverley & East Riding Golf Club will also be taking part in Heritage Open Days this September. Further details are available on the club's website.
Catering and Clubhouse hospitality
Ben then handed over to Nadine, who spoke briefly about her new role as Catering Manager and stressed that everyone is welcome at the Clubhouse. She encouraged BCoT members and local businesses to use the facilities, come together to exchange ideas, and make valuable connections. There are regular music events, so keep a lookout via the Clubhouse's Facebook page.
From the moment guests arrived, the warm welcome set a positive tone, helping everyone feel comfortable and valued. The buffet was attractively presented, creating a strong impression and demonstrating attention to detail. Nadine invited members to relax, continue conversations informally, and enjoy the delicious food provided.
Community and local initiatives
Mat Watson from The Track Fitness and Boxing Club, the local boxing club, spoke about the progress they are making with young boxers Rocco, Tallulah, and Holly, and outlined how local businesses can get involved and support the club.
Networking and next steps
Further discussions led to an open networking session focused on Beverley's infrastructure, with participants considering how upcoming changes can benefit both businesses and local residents.
The next official meeting will be on the last Wednesday of September at The Ferguson Fawsitt. A social event is being arranged for August.
