Salt Gallery Host BCoT Meeting

Feb 27, 2025

Beverley Chamber meets on the last Wednesday of the month, and each month the meetings are held at a different member’s venue. February’s meeting was held at Salt Architects and Gallery, a new member’s premises on Lairgate.

Newly elected Chair Shaun Dart, with host Stella Squire from Salt, welcomed everyone to the meeting, inviting members to get a drink and nibbles.

In his address, new Chair Shaun welcomed everyone and reminded them that attending Chamber of Trade meetings encourages valuable networking, helping businesses connect with potential clients and partners. Members gain insights into local market trends, business opportunities, and policy changes. These meetings offer a platform to voice concerns, collaborate on community projects, and access resources that enhance growth, credibility, and knowledge.

Stella Squire, the Office manager from Salt Architects and Gallery, welcomed everyone and gave a brief overview of Salt Architects and the formation of the Gallery. Stella mentioned, “Salt Gallery is an independent local art gallery which enriches Beverley by showcasing local and regional talent, attracting visitors. The Gallery aims to build a cultural identity, inspiring creativity, and provides a community space for exhibitions and events. Supporting artists and businesses alike, it helps to enhance Beverley’s vibrancy, fitting in with its heritage.

Dominic Hornsby, Architect from Salt and co-director, mentioned, “Salt Architects play a crucial role in designing environmentally sustainable structures that minimise ecological impact. Sustainable design also prioritises biodiversity, waste reduction, and the use of recycled or renewable materials”

Dominic continued, “Through innovative approaches, Salt Architects aim to shape resilient, eco-friendly spaces that promote human well-being while preserving natural resources for future generations”.

Dominic added, “We are proud to say that this year is our 25th Anniversary and we will be releasing an exciting fund raising programme soon for BCoT members to help with in due course and look forward to your participation”.

BCot Chair Shaun finished the presentation with an invitation: “This year BCoT is celebrating 75 years of the Chamber of Trade and looks to honour its dedication to local businesses and community growth. This milestone reflects decades of support, networking, and economic development. It’s a time to recognise achievements, strengthen partnerships, and inspire future success, ensuring continued prosperity for businesses and the wider community. Tickets are now available for a night to remember through the decades”

Members and guests were then invited to mingle, chat and enjoy drinks and nibbles whilst viewing the gallery and the facilities at the architectural practice.

The next meeting (venue to be announced) will be on the last Wednesday of March – 26th March 2025. 5.45 for 6.00pm start.
