October BCoT meeting hosted in the Hive

On the last Wednesday of the month, Wednesday 29th October, BCoT Chair Shaun welcomed everyone to The Hive in Flemingate, and showed them around to experience what working life is like at The Hive.

Shaun said, “The Hive, a new stylish coworking and hot desk space, is the ideal space in Beverley for small businesses, we offer Flexible contracts, 24/7 access and it has a fully equipped Meeting Room (free to all members) with two brand new state-of-the-art soundproof pods, High-speed Wifi. Additionally members can access discounted contract car parking rates of £10+VAT per week along with a secure cycle store and lockers, shower facilities, partner discounts and a Communal kitchen with refreshments.”

Shaun then invited guests and new members to shine a light on their individual businesses.

Guests Zoe and Tim, mentioned that they will be opening a new Tapas Restaurant,  Ambiente, in Flemingate at the end of November.
Ambiente has popular restaurants in York, Leeds and Hull all known for their exceptional cuisine and inviting atmosphere. Opening a further restaurant in Beverley marks an exciting milestone for the brand, reflecting its success and loyal customer base.

Guest speakers, Fi and Fiona, new members to the BCoT, gave in-depth presentations on their businesses to help business owners and their staff.

Fi, a qualified Counsellor, said “Counselling offers a powerful path toward healing by providing a safe, accepting space where individuals can explore emotions without judgment”.

As a skilled experience counsellor Fi can help clients develop coping strategies, regulate overwhelming thoughts or sensory experiences, and build self-compassion. When therapy is adapted to a person’s communication style and sensory needs, it can strengthen resilience and self-awareness.

Fiona, who launched “Rise Inclusion Pathways” in Beverley, delivered a short presentation, raising awareness about neurodivergent individuals and how they navigate life’s challenges, embrace their strengths, and find hope even in difficult times, proving that support, understanding, and inclusion can make a profound difference in mental health recovery.

Neurodivergent individuals, such as those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or other neurological differences often experience the world in unique and valuable ways. However, societal misunderstanding, sensory overload, or challenges with communication can sometimes lead to increased stress, isolation, or depression. Depression in neurodivergent people may manifest differently, making understanding and tailored support essential. If any business owner, parent, friend or family member is experiencing or observing any of the above, Fiona suggested bringing it to their attention.

Fiona concluded, “Together we rise and build inclusive futures through our pathways in education, employment and life”.

Alex, from RISE physiotherapy, a new guest to BCoT, gave a brief overview of their state-of-the-art Physiotherapy Business with a trusted, highly qualified and friendly team of professionals.

Emily Blake from Investors in Community mentioned how they help to bring charities the support they need, helping businesses
do good, working together, transforming our communities.

BCoT members and guests then moved on to the local Beverley Hills Diner in Flemingate, where host Lucas gave guests the opportunity to enjoy Classic American comfort food. Lucas commented, “The food is made fresh every day. Homemade. Home-fried. Made fresh. That’s what we do best. It’s proper American comfort food the way it should be done, with quality ingredients and flavours that hit the spot every time”.

As usual, BCoT members and guests networked together, enjoyed the social meeting and looked forward to the next meeting on the last Wednesday of November.

The last meeting of 2025 will be Wednesday 26th November at Beverley Golf Club. This is one not to be missed. Members and guests are welcome from 5.45pm onwards.
