Lifesaving Stories and Local Flavours: BCoT Meets at Blok and Vine

Blok and Vine welcomed members of Beverley Chamber of Trade (BCoT) for their October meeting. Owner Matthew provided menu tastings and shared an insight into his business.

BCoT meets on the last Wednesday of each month at different local venues, giving members the chance to showcase their businesses and build connections.

RNLI shares its work

Chair Shaun Dart welcomed guest speaker Malcolm Watkinson from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Malcolm spoke about the charity's lifesaving work around the coast and waterways. He highlighted the dedication of its volunteers, who rescue people in danger and help educate communities about water safety.

He also explained that the RNLI relies heavily on donations and fundraising, encouraging businesses and communities to support one another, even in challenging times.

Supporting local businesses

Shaun spoke about BCoT’s role in helping business owners share ideas, discuss challenges and celebrate successes. He encouraged members to host future meetings so others could learn more about their businesses.

After the speakers, members took part in a round-the-room “what’s happening in your business?” session. This gave everyone the opportunity to share updates, upcoming plans and news from their own businesses.

The formal part of the evening was followed by informal networking over a delicious selection of cheeses, a charcuterie board and salad, provided by Blok and Vine.

Shaun and Vice Chair Marnie Taylor also highlighted upcoming White Ribbon events organised by Beverley Mayor Cheryl Giles. Members were encouraged to watch for bulletins with further details.

Upcoming dates

  • Next meeting: Wednesday 25 November.
  • Social evening: Thursday 10 December at Beverley Hills Diner.
